Opioid Stewardship Accelerator
CaroNova’s Opioid Stewardship Accelerator aims to advance alternatives to opioids, accelerate adoption of best practices, and improve care continuity and coordination among hospitals and community partners as part of a communitywide, patient-centric system of care. In 2024, CaroNova will evaluate engagement and utility of the opioid resource library to inform the establishment of provider affinity groups to facilitate collaborative learning around specific tools or populations.
CaroNova is providing training and technical assistance to 10 hospitals across the Carolinas to launch or improve their emergency department’s buprenorphine program to better treat and care for patients with an opioid use disorder or overdose and connect them to ongoing care through community partnerships. NC hospitals that are participating include:
- Carolinas East Medical Center
- CaroMont Regional Medical Center
- UNC Health Medical Center
- UNC Health Pardee
Through this implementation, CaroNova will capture themes, current barriers, and successes to inform future work in the opioid space for the Carolinas.
